Music Monday

Everybody loves alliteration.  Hence, the choice of Monday as a good day for music.  I’m a little bitter on this Monday, as I realized that Muse and Passion Pit are coming to town on Friday night, and I can’t go.  I’ve been loving Passion Pit, recommended by my friend Danielle (a.k.a. HeyyyBrother) a while back.  I think of her every time I listen to Little Secrets, and I believe she also thinks of me as well.

Broken BellsThe Ghost Inside has been on my mind lately, too.  I’ve always liked this song, but not until I saw the video did I LOVE it.  Perhaps because it stars my girl crush, Christina Hendricks.  Perhaps because the narrative of the video is so futuristic and compelling.  It kind of reminds me of Firefly, the television series, in which, coincidentally, Christina Hendricks had several appearances.

One more song recommendation: Mark Ronson & the Business Intl. On horrible Monday mornings this song, Bang, Bang, Bang, is pretty much on a loop as I get ready for work.  It never ceases to make me dance around and feel like I can face the day.  Thanks to my friend Marta for this one!

I discovered today that Urban Outfitters has free downloads for Music Monday.  Five new songs here!

As you can tell, I’m pretty reliant on friends for good music advice.  Any recommendations for me for Music Monday?

  1. Holla, shout-out! I DO think of you whenever I hear Little Secrets. That’s pretty darn romantic… Sorry to hear you can’t go see them. I would LOVE to go to that show… one day…

    Let’s see, what else am

    1. a-hurr-durr-durr… it’s like it’s my first time commenting somewhere. Stupid sloppy finger typing.

ANYWAY… what else am I listening to obsessively?

Geographer – their EP “Animal Shapes” is only 5 or 6 songs, but they’re all EXCELLENT songs. Kind of along the lines of Passion Pit in that they have that electronic thing going for them.

Arcade Fire – their latest album “Suburbs” is only so-so as far as I’m concerned, but I never get sick of their debut album “Funeral”. Ever since I saw them live last month, I’ve gotten back into listening to them incessantly.

The National – their album “High Violet” may rank in my top 5 or 10 favorite albums of all time.

Local Natives – their album “Gorilla Manor” is a little mellow compared to this other music. Their song “Airplanes” got me seriously hooked on them for a while.

I think that’s about it… some of those may not be new to you at all, but it’s what I’m enjoying lately!
